Quality Manager’s Alert Feature

In the December 11, 2017 issue of Quality Manager’s Alert, our Quality Manager, Shane Szall, was featured in the “What would you do?” column.  The article was called Star employee clashes with Quality over cross training: What to do? and featured a scenario where an employee doesn’t believe it is important for him to participate in cross training because it doesn’t have to do with what he was hired for.  Shane was asked what he would do in this scenario, and his response ended up being featured.  Take a look below to fully read the scenario and see how Shane would have dealt with that employee:

Testing Out New Stretch Form Machine

MBS recently purchased a Stretch Form Machine to help increase our production of a family of rails we make.  This Stretch Form Machine will help us eliminate several press operations we currently go through to make the rails.  Soon we will be placing these rails into a Cell layout in the shop to also help us increase our production for this family of rails.  Below is a video of the Stretch Former being tested out for the first time:

New Cincinnati in Massachusetts

We have a new Cincinnati CNC 60 ton 6ft Press Brake in use at the shop located in Massachusetts.


New machines in Massachusetts

With the buildings new addition, many new machines were introduced into the building.  MBS purchased the following machines brand new:

  • CNC Haas VF 1YT Mill
  • EDM Max SD510
  • Yougar EDM Drill
  • Amada Spot Welder
  • 3 Auto TIG Welders

MBS also purchased the following machines used:

  • CNC Haas VF 3YT Mill
  • CNC Haas VF2 Mill
  • CNC Haas SL-20 Lathe
  • Pacific Hydraulic Press

New addition is up and running

MBS has added an addition that abuts our last addition for the laser room.  This addition was completed in March of 2016 and is 3,000 square feet.  It has allowed MBS to move some machines around to free up more room on the shop floor for assembly projects, and also allowed MBS to purchase a few more machines to help increase production.  This new addition is used as a cell to run parts for big projects and houses:

  • 3 CNC Haas VF 3YT Vertical Mills
  • 2 CNC Haas ST30 Lathes
  • 1 CNC Haas VF 1YT Vertical Mill
  • 1 CNC Haas SL20 Lathe
